1) Recipe:

Killer Toffee
(Recipe from a friend of a friend of a friends?¦)

Ingredients:
2 cups coarsely chopped walnuts
3 cups chocolate chips
1/2 pound butter
1/2 pound brown sugar
Candy thermometer.

Directions: Spray 13" x 9" baking pan with Pam. Spread 2 cups nuts evenly over bottom of pan, followed by 2 cups of chocolate chips. In saucepan mix brown sugar and butter, stirring constantly until temperature reaches 300 degrees. Pour and spread hot toffee over nuts and chips. Quickly sprinkle 1 cup chocolate chips evenly over toffee mixture. Use the back of a large metal spoon to smoosh chips into toffee so they melt. Cool, cut up and eat!

2) Great Source for Original Art

If you are looking for reasonably priced artwork for your home, visit the Pacific Art League Gallery, located at 668 Ramona St. in Palo Alto (650-321-3891). They have monthly thematic shows with every medium represented. One-of-a-kind pieces sell for as little as $50! While you are there, look for one of my assemblage pieces---I have one or two pieces per month on display.

3) More Art Opportunities

Set aside some time on the weekend of May 4th and 5th to participate in the Silicon Valley Open Studio tour. Hundreds of artists across the Valley and Peninsula open their homes and/or studios to the public in order to show and sell their work. A map with open studio locations is available from SVVA. Call (650) 941-5337 or visit the website at svopenstudios.org. If you've never done this before, go for it---it's a fun way to meet artists in a low-key setting. I am participating in the event and will be joined by 4 other artists. Please visit me anytime on the 4th or 5th of May from 11:00 am, to 5:00 pm, at my home; 1539 Granger Way, Redwood City.

4) Even More Art Opportunities!

If you missed my open house last November, don't fret! Please come to my annual Arts and Crafts Sale and Open House on Saturday, November 16th (two Saturdays before Thanksgiving) from 12 to 5 pm. You are welcome to tour my home and also to shop for jewelry, paintings, sculpture pieces, greeting cards and other works created by 10 or more artists who set up tables throughout my home. This is a wonderful opportunity to pick up a special gift or something for you. Bring your friends! To be held at my home: 1539 Granger Way, Redwood City.

6) Staging Booklet Will Make You Thousands!

I have written and published a home sale preparation and staging booklet which can help you get a quick sale at a great price. It includes home improvements you can make now to increase your home's resale value later, home projects to avoid, a room by room staging checklist and how to stage a vacant home. After interviewing dozens of realtors, reviewing remodeling industry surveys and over 10 years of staging homes, I have condensed what I've learned and what I share with my clients into a very valuable pamphlet. It can be yours by sending a self-addressed, legal-sized envelope, stamped with $0.55, and your check for $5 (which already includes tax) to: A Fresh Look, 1539 Granger Way, Redwood City, CA 94061.
