1) Quote of the month

2) Kit's REAL EASY Indian Crock Pot Dinner
1 big carrot,
sliced
1 onion, diced
1 cup frozen peas
(You could also add a chopped potato or some cauliflower)
4 skinless, boneless chicken breasts
8 oz. jar Trader Joe's Marsala or Curry Simmer Sauce
Directions: Put chicken breasts in bottom of stoneware, add the vegetables and pour the simmer sauce on top. Cover and cook on LOW for 8 to 10 (or HIGH for 5 to 6 hours). Add the frozen peas 1 or 2 hours before the end time. Serve with brown or white rice. Makes 4 servings.
3) Quick Ideas for Reducing Clutter
- Keep your bathroom countertops free of hygiene items by putting
it all in caddies (with handles) and storing them under the sink.
Use one for hair stuff, one for makeup, etc., pull them out when
needed and re-stash when through.
- Keep your bills in one
spot. Pay them on the 1st and 15th of each month. Mark those dates
on your calendar. So what if you pay some of them early? You will
have peace of mind knowing your payments will arrive on time and
you will avoid late fees.
- Better yet, arrange to
have your regular monthly bills withdrawn from your checking account.
PGE, your water company, your newspaper and your telephone company
will gladly send you the necessary forms.
- Hold a swap party with friends to trade CD's, DVD's, video and audiotapes and books.

8) Thinking About Downsizing?
If you plan to move to a smaller home, the process can be overwhelming. I have helped dozens of clients winnow down their possessions, disperse unwanted furnishings, prepare the house for sale (staging) and figure out how to fit their furniture into the new space. I even arrange your knick-knacks and hang your art after you move in! I have a team of professionals to help with every aspect: organizers to help get your papers in order, real estate agents who know your neighborhood, movers, painters, gardeners, computer hooker uppers---anyone you need to help with downsizing. It takes longer than you think to transition into a smaller home, so call to see how I can be of service: 650-367-7370.
9) Catastrophe Update
It has been four and a half months since our 350-year-old oak tree crushed our home. Believe it or not, our insurance company has still not come up with a scope of work or a settlement fee! We decided to make some changes to the house and so I have used the time to design the new spaces and research finishes and products. Hopefully by the time we get a settlement figure, my plans will have passed the city's review process and we can start building immediately. We are very happy in the home we are renting and enjoy exploring the neighborhood. I have learned a lot about preparing for a disaster, insurance, remodeling and patience!
