6) Catastrophe Update
It has been six and a half months since our 350 year old oak tree crushed our home. Believe it or not, our insurance company has still not come up with a scope of work or a settlement fee! We decided to rebuild our home with changes: we're removing the fireplace in the living room and opening the kitchen to the living room. We are expanding the master bedroom and bath 5 feet out and we are reconfiguring the stairwell. (The stairwell used to stair-step up under the tree's branches, and now that there's no tree it looks odd). My plans have passed the city's review process and we are waiting for the contractor's bids. Hopefully, we will be able to break ground in mid-July. We are still very happy in the home we are renting and enjoy the neighborhood. I am excited about the rebuilding process and look forward to creating a new home perfectly suited to how we live.
