1) Quote of the Quarter
“Whatever is beautiful rests in the foundation of the necessary…and the useful.” Emerson
2) Useful Sources
- Need an inexpensive source for printer cartridges? Visit www.NeolandBusiness.com. They sell all the major brands for 50 to 80% off retail. They also sell at the De Anza College Flea Market (first Saturday of each month).
- Don't know where to recycle those pesky Styrofoam peanuts? Call the “Peanuts Hotline”. The system gives you 3 sites within a few minute drive of your home: (800) 828-2214.
3) Feng Shui Tips for the Bathroom
- The bathroom relates to your health and finances more than any other area of your home. Keep the toilet lid down, especially when you flush it. You can further protect your chi (life force) by hanging a spherical crystal from the ceiling over the toilet area. Leafy, healthy plants on the countertop can also enliven the space. Turn on the fan or open the window daily to circulate the air.
- The bathroom should be a retreat where you have privacy and serenity. Make sure the door lock functions, and that you have effective window coverings or translucent windows.
- Make sure you can open the door all the way so the chi can freely circulate.
- Clutter is an energy drainer! Organize and clean your countertops and cabinets regularly.
- Get rid of tatty or stained towels and bathmats. Velvety towels and scented candles can enhance your life force.
4) Time Management Tips
Start your day by doing what you don't like to do first! It makes the rest of the day more relaxed.
- Keep a master “to do” list. Select the most urgent items for your “to do's” of the day, limiting it to 10 items or less.
- Keep a notebook in your purse or in your car to jot down ideas, things to do, movies you'd like to see, books you'd like to read, music you'd like to buy, etc.
- Do a “mind dump” at the end of the day; make a list of the things you need to do on the following day.
- Batch like tasks. For example, make all your telephone calls from 8:00 to 9:00 and 4:00 to 5:00, pay your bills on the 1st and 15th, take all your copies to the copy shop on Friday, mail in your deposits once a month (banks will provide you with postage paid envelopes).
- Try an integrity test: Plan to arrive 5 minutes EARLY for every appointment for a week. You will be amazed at how this reduces your stress and makes you feel. You might want to continue this until it becomes a habit.
