4. Thank you for your school supply donations

During my recent art workshop in Guatemala, I delivered 50 pounds of much needed school supplies to Los Amigos de Santa Cruz, an organization which supports education, better health care and environmental and economic development projects in the tiny village of Santa Cruz La Laguna. Los Amigos provides fuel efficient wood burning stoves and water filters to needy families, built and staffs a regional library and computer lab, and runs a nutrition and health program for preschool children. The donation was received with deep gratitude. My art friends and I got a tour of the library and lab, the preschool class and the health education center. Coincidentally, a team was going to visit a remote outlying village to deliver school supplies the next day and my bag came at the perfect time.

• Thank you to Judy Martin, Jane Alsalom, Elaine Raines, The Wehrends, Sandra Anderson, Ruth Robertson, Linda Atwood, (and the anonymous person who left a big bag of supplies on my front porch) for your generous donations. You made a difference!

5. Save the date!

Please come to my annual Arts and Crafts Sale and Open House on Saturday, November 15th from 12 to 5 pm. You are welcome to tour my home and also to shop for jewelry, paintings, sculpture pieces, greeting cards and other works created by artisans who set up tables throughout my house. Bring your friends! To be held at my home: 1539 Granger Way, Redwood City.

If you are looking for a free place to recycle an old TV, computer monitor, cell phone, microwave oven or other electronic device, ASL Recycling has established GREENspot drop-off locations at Bains Facilities Management, 1836 #B Bay Road, East Palo Alto, and HOPE 460 E. Middlefield Rd., Mountain View. For other locations visit www.aslgreen-spot.com.

• Costco Trade-in and Recycling Program, in coordination with Greensight, allows members to recycle computers, LCD monitors, digital cameras, camcorders, game systems and MP3 players free---and in some cases receive a Costco Cash card for any estimated trade-in value. Go to Costco.com, click on “Electronics”, then on “Trade-in and Recycle”.
